PRESENT Polls Podiatrists Nationwide on their CME Preferences
CME is regulated for podiatrists by each state. When PRESENT began providing online CME for podiatrists in 2005, most states allowed some CME to be obtained online and in print media, but only 12% of states allowed COMPLETE FREEDOM OF CHOICE by allowing ALL CME online. Flash forward to 2015, and today 3/5 or 60% of states allow this complete freedom, allowing you to earn 100% of your credits via any accredited source, while the rest allow varying amounts. You can see what YOUR state allows in our Annual State CME Law Survey.
Survey Reveals What Podiatrists Truly Want in CME
It is long overdue that a survey be done polling podiatrists on their preferences for and attitudes toward CME. CME is regulated by each state in podiatry, and the states vary as far as the number of credits required, the time period in which the credits must be obtained, and most importantly, in what ways the CME may be obtained. We at PRESENT Podiatry do an annual Report on State Podiatry CME Requirement, which you can refer to see what each state requires.

Continuing Medical Education Methodology: Current Trends and Applications in Wound Care
The field of professional medical continuing education is changing rapidly. The traditional format for continuing education for health care professionals has long been classroom learning. This form of learning has been found to be relatively ineffective in changing learners’ practice patterns. The reasons most often cited are that there is little interaction and that the learning does not occur when the learner is ready to learn. Interaction greatly enhances retention and the tendency for the learner to later apply the learning in actual clinical encounters. There are a growing number of online continuing medical education (CME) Web sites that combine on-demand didactic presentations with the ability to discuss the content with peers. The easy access and interaction potential of this new CME media promises to improve the effectiveness of future CME.
